All Saints Assembly

Written by Sis. Lorrie Concepcion and Sis. Luvi Capio

The MFC Kids New Jersey gathered to celebrate the Feast of All Saints in Parlin, NJ last Saturday, October 28, 2023.

The assembly started off with MFC Youth leading the kids to sing and dance. This was immediately followed by a kids-led rosary prayer, and flower offering to the image of our Blessed Mother. After everyone had settled down, a short teaching was given by Lance on why we, as Catholics, celebrate All Saints Day. Youths Paolo and Jian then proceeded to talk about the life of featured saint, St. Felix of Nola, patron saint of lost animals and spiders. The kids learned the importance of all of God’s creations and how He uses them, even spiders, to help each and everyone of us. Kids were then led by Youths Andre and Michael to the crafts area where they made spiders out of cardboard and zip-ties. Their very own creations were then used for the fun and exciting spider race games.

The much-awaited costume parade came next with Youths Dana and Pia asking each kid why they chose their costume and to name one trait they like about the character they were wearing. Thereafter, the trick-or-treat commenced.  Kids walked around the venue getting treats from booths set up by each chapter. When everyone’s baskets had been filled, all were gathered for the special awards given to a number of kids who wore their costumes best. As usual, mandatory pictures were taken. The event ended with a closing prayer by MFC-Kid Euan.

MFC Kids would like to thank MFC Youth for facilitating the program, Sally Delos Reyes for the beautiful back-drop, all MFC Chapters for setting up booths, all parents, parent coordinators and volunteers, all donors (cash, food and treats), and the entire MFC-NJ community for making this event possible and fun for our kids. To God be the Glory!
